We also need to know what part you're using. "lspci | grep Ethernet" should narrow that down.
Thanks.

Could you also provide some information about the configuration of the system when this happens?
Do you have Runtime Power Management configured in the kernel and enabled? (echo auto > /sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:19.0/power/control)
Is the network cable in and link is up? Is anything happening to the link partner (going up and down, connecting and disconnecting)?
Thanks,
Dave Ertman

Boris,
What kind of system (platform) is this happening on? It's a LOM correct? Can you run 'lspci -vvv' and output the results?
Thanks.
Cheers,
John

Hi guys,
let me answer to all of you here:
On Thu, Apr 10, 2014 at 03:45:41PM +0000, Ertman, DavidX M wrote:

AFAIR, this happens when I stick the network cable in. I'll pay
attention to the exact moment when this happens in the future and report
back.

Yes. I normally run powertop when the machine goes up after a reboot and
set all tunables to "Good". The above is one of them.
> Is the network cable in and link is up?
Yes, as I mentioned, there is a very high chance that it happens when I
plug in the network cable. But I'll need to confirm that.
> Is anything happening to the link partner (going up and down,

Not that I know of - the partner is a 8-port switch where other machines
are connected. Their connection is fine AFAICT.

Machine is Thinkpad x230, I'm attaching full lspci -vvv -xxxx output
with PCI config space dump, hth.
Thanks guys.

Hi guys,
again a hardware hang, this time on my workstation with 3.15-rc6:
It happened during a suspend-to-disk attempt doing:
echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
echo "shutdown" > /sys/power/disk
echo "disk" > /sys/power/state
The box came right back up and dmesg said:
