You suggest:
iptables -> setsockopt -> umh (xtables -> ebpf) -> kernel
How is this different from
iptables -> setsockopt -> umh (Xtables -> nftables -> kernel
?
EBPF can be placed within nftables either userspace or kernel,
there is nothing that prevents this.
