Tariq got a review on a trivial export patch, which put all the logic in the driver instead, rather promptly. I asked them to go the extra mile and move the code to the core so other drivers can benefit. If this doesn't get into 6.0 it'll be a clear sign for driver maintainers that building shared infrastructure is arduous and should be avoided at all cost :(
