I'm also suffering from an issue that I have bisected to the same commit,
although in a totally different environment and with other reproduction
steps: For me the Xorg server crashes as soon as I re-plug my laptops
power chord and afterwards I can only switch to a TTY to debug. No
errors are logged in the dmesg.
This is the relevant excerpt from the Xorg log (full one is attached):

I can also confirm that reverting the patch on top of 6.16-rc1 fixes the
issue for me (thanks for coming up with the revert to Naim from the
CachyOS team!).
My xorg version is 21.1.16-1 on Arch Linux and I have attached the
revert, my xorg log from the crash and bisection log to this mail!
I'll also CC a few of the netdev people that might have further insights
for this issue!

Thanks for the report.
Could you test the diff below ?
look like some programs start listen()ing before setting
SO_PASSCRED or SO_PASSPIDFD and there's a small race window.

I confirm that this fixes 6.16-rc1 for me as well. Whenever you send the
proper patch please CC me so I can give a Tested-by tag.
Thanks!

Hello,
On my MSI Claw with Lunar Lake chipset I am unable to make it past my bootloader even with this posted diff.
I bisected and it led to af_unix: Inherit sk_flags at connect().
In my case, I am unable to attach any logs because my device completely freezes before the journal initializes.
This diff, which makes it essentially a full revert, lets me boot into a kernel built from latest master:

Just came across this when troubleshooting a resume from suspend issue
where I'm get a black screen after suspend. Initially saw this with my
distribution's(Linux 6.16.7-2-cachyos) kernel, and confirmed the issue
in the latest version of the vanilla mainline kernel. Bisection is also
pointing to commit 3f84d577b79d2fce8221244f2509734940609ca6.
This patch appears to be already applied in the mainline kernel, so
this might be something different. I'm new to mailing lists, so wasn't
sure if I should report this issue here or start a new email chain.

Could you test it with this diff and see if 2 or 3 splats are logged
in dmesg ? and in that case, please share the stack traces.
I expect this won't trigger the black screen and you can check dmesg
after resume.
Thanks!

Good morning/afternoon. Applied this patch to the latest mainline, but
still see the black screen upon trying to resume after suspend. The
keyboard looks to be unresponsive, as trying to switch to a tty
terminal or back doesn't result in anything happening(as well as
numlock/caps not being responsive either). I also tried using the power
button, as well as closing/reopening the laptop lid to see if I could
trigger resume.
Checked the systemd journal just in case, but no splats or anything
else is recorded after the suspend. Finally, attempted following dmesg
with -Wh to a text file before suspending, but that also doesn't record
any new input after the suspend.

Thanks for testing the painful scenario.
Could you apply this on top of the previous diff and give it
another shot ?
I think the application hit a race similar to one in 43fb2b30eea7.

Just tested again with latest mainline, but no change. Once suspended,
keyboard becomes inactive and no longer accepts any input, so no way to
switch to tty to view dmesg. The only way to move forward after
suspending is holding down power to hard shutdown, then power back on.
I tried enabling persistence in the systemd journal, then checking
journalctl -k -b -1, but nothing is recorded from dmesg after the
suspend.

Thank you for your patience.
I assumed SO_PASSCRED was the problem, but I missed
SO_PASSCRED was also inherited durint accept().
Could you apply this on top of the previous changes ?
Also, could you tell what desktop manager and distro
you are using ? If this attempt fails, I'll try to
reproduce with the same version on my desktop.

No worries! I just applied this patch as well(on top of the other two
in the order you originally provided), and still seeing the black
screen upon resume. I am seeing a stack trace now when I check
systemd's journal, which wasn't there before(not sure if its related).
I do have the System.map as well for this build, but not sure why
everything seemed to end up so cryptic. I'll paste it below as well as
my desktop:

Just wanted to report that this is no longer an issue now. I had
avoided suspending my computer for the last few weeks but closing the
laptop lid this morning on accident, and it resumed normally! I also
tested going to the power options and clicking suspend there as well,
and it seems to be waking up normally again. Not sure if anything
changed, but wanted to let you know and thank you for helping!
Current Kernel Version: Linux 6.17.7-3-cachyos
Vanilla Kernel: Didn't test since its working downstream now in Cachyos
