Hi,
I didn't get any remarks anymore on this series.
Does this mean the PCMCIA interface is OK? I'm not so familiar
with that part...

That's one way, another is:
ftmac100_set_receive_ring_base(priv,
priv->descs_dma_addr +
offsetof(struct ftmac100_descs, rxdes));
Another would be to change set_receive_ring_base to
just pass priv and determine the dma address there:
static void ftmac100_set_receive_ring_base(struct ftmac100 *priv)
{
dma_addr_t addr;
addr = priv->descs_dma_addr + offsetof(struct ftmac100_descs, rxdes);
iowrite32(addr, priv->base + FTMAC100_OFFSET_RXR_BADR);
}
...
ftmac100_set_receive_ring_base(priv);
Another is not to be overly adherent to 80 columns.
Pick one that suits you.
You chose to use a lot of single use, single line
functions with descriptive names that use iowrite32 or
return some flag. I probably would have just used
iowrite32 or tested the flag directly, but that's your
choice and it's perfectly fine.
There are a lot of coding choices that are readable and
good. There isn't and shouldn't be some mandate for some
specific code appearance before inclusion or acceptance.
checkpatch is just a style guide. Ignore it and ignore
me when you feel it's appropriate. I won't mind.
cheers, Joe

* radvd 1.7 released
From: Pekka Savola @ 2011-01-20 7:37 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: netdev
Hello,
Radvd 1.7 has been released on Jan 12. Most important changes:
* Fix radvd skipping multiple interfaces when UnicastOnly is on or
AdvSendAdvert is off. This got broken in radvd 1.3. Patch from
Cedric BAIL.
* Fix a segmentation fault on reload_config() timer list
corruption that only occurs with multiple interfaces.
* Add '-c' flag to test configuration.
* Deprecate old, pre-RFC5006 parameters. Support RFC6106 by adding
DNS Search List support. From Pierre Ossman.
* AdvSourceLLAddress fixed on FreeBSD when link layer token length
is zero.
* Welcome new co-maintainer: Reuben Hawkins
Get it from: http://www.litech.org/radvd/

The patch itself looks fine. I am concerned about validation.
Dirk - is there a chance that the ce4100 will use this PHY? If so,
can you cover the validation?
For now I will add this to my net-next tree while I await word from Dirk.

If you're using Debian, the necessary blob is in the firmware-realtek
package.

It's a known problem with calls to request_firmware() when userland is
not running (early initialisation or resume from sleep). It may be
fixable.

When resuming from suspended with 2.6.38-rc1 with my RTL8168d/8111d
hardware, I see significant delays [1].
The only firmware I see in /lib/firmware is RTL8192E, thus it looks
like this is due to it being not present.
I see that Francois' patch is present in 2.6.38-rc1; is there a way to
avoid this delay, or is this likely in request_firmware?
Thanks,
Daniel

1) Revert a netlink flag sanity check that is causing regressions in
existing applications.
2) can_checksum_protocol() args were swapped, causing broken ipv6
checksum handling with devices that cannot offload ipv6 checksums.
Regression fix from Eric Dumazet.
3) CAN protocol sendmsg() doesn't validate sockaddr size, fix from
Kurt Van Dijck.
4) Name space creation spams logs with useless ipv6 private extension
messages, fix from Romain Francoise.
5) sctp SACK timer socket option is not properly named, but since it's
been wrong for a long time provide a back-compat cpp define as well
so we don't break existing apps. Fix from Shan Wei.
