* [datapath minor fixes 2/3] datapath: avoid double free routing entry in vxlan_port xmit

Route entry will be free on error by vport when freeing skb.
additional error check and free after xmit() will cause double free.

* [datapath minor fixes 1/3] datapath: avoid hard code OVS_VPORT_TYPE_GENEVE
From: Andy Zhou @ 2014-10-01 7:55 UTC (permalink / raw)

OVS_VPORT_TYPE_GENEVE is currently hard coded to 6. This is not
necessary since slot 5 has not been taken yet. Drop the hard
coded value to before upstreaming GENEVE support to Linux kernel.

Thanks Paul for review. Initially I too had greped for this function in
kernel and found noone using it. But I thought this function might be
useful in future. About removing it, may be original author can tell.

It looks like SKB_FCLONE_UNAVAILABLE has overloaded use depending on
whether we are referring to skb allocated from head_cache or from
fclone_cache. In the former case, it means this skb cannot be cloned
i.e.(clone is unavailable) but in latter case, it means clone is free
to be used.
This overleading is confusing as seen in the comment in snippet above.
Should we add something like SKB_CLONE_FREE for the second case that
indicates that clone is free for use.? I can send a patch if it makes
sense..

To me this looked like an odd way to silence that warning. So I dug a
bit further.
ssb_sdio_func_to_bus() was added in commit 24ea602e183c ("ssb: Implement
SDIO host bus support"). So it was added in release v2.6.32. I found no
evidence this function was ever used. Can't it be removed?

The return value of nbp_vlan_init() is not handled.
How about logging in the same way as fdb-inserting?

Should check untagged_bitmap for old_pvid as well?

br_vlan_add() should be done before br_vlan_delete()?
br_vlan_delete() might free vlan_info which will be immediately
allocated by following br_vlan_add().

Should fix br_get_pvid() when CONFIG_BRIDGE_VLAN_FILTERING=n?
It returns VLAN_N_VID, which might be confusing.

This seems to accept a large value as a valid value.
For example, ((1 << 16) + 10) will be handled as 10.
How about using "val" for this check?

BTW, even for NIC TSO capable, it seems TSO can be slower for small
packets (like 2 MSS packets) on some NICs at least...
In this case forcing segmentation can be a win (consumes more cpu
cycles, but reduce the stress on the NIC)
(Adding an extra check in netif_skb_features() would do as well, I
suppose)
+ if (skb_shinfo(skb)->gso_segs < skb->dev->gso_min_segs)

thanks.
Marcel:
this is a patch for a fix which is already in net-next. Please don't
apply, see [0].
Marcel and David:
Now, we have chaos who will apply now patches for ieee802154. I thought
I apply ieee802154 patches to the wpan-next tree and then send it to
bluetooth-next. Please don't change this patchflow.
Okay, I know sometimes people change the inet_frag api, then it should
go into net/net-next.

You haven't been following the conversation.
I already applied his previous patch which had errors to net-next,
so this is a patch relative to net-next which fixes things and
implements the change correctly.

* [PATCH net 1/2] r8152: remove clearing bp
From: Hayes Wang @ 2014-10-01 5:25 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: netdev; +Cc: nic_swsd, linux-kernel, linux-usb, Hayes Wang
In-Reply-To: <1394712342-15778-51-Taiwan-albertk@realtek.com>
The xxx_clear_bp() is used to halt the firmware. It only necessary
for updating the new firmware. Besides, depend on the version of
the current firmware, it may have problem to halt the firmware
directly. Finally, halt the firmware would let the firmware code
useless, and the bugs which are fixed by the firmware would occur.
