No need to initialize to zero.
Not a big fan of macro's but it does make the code more readable in this case.

The check for the presence or not of the optional switch function
get_phy_flags() called the function, rather than checking to see if it
is a NULL pointer. This causes a derefernce of a NULL pointer on all
switch chips except the sf2, the only switch to implement this call.

The s6000 Xtensa support is removed from the kernel. There are no
other chips using this driver.

While the Mentor/Alcatel PE-MCXMAC IP core is also used in other
designs (Freescale Gianfar/UCC, QLogic NetXen, Solarflare, Agere
ET-1310, Netlogic XLR/XLS), none of these use this driver as it
heavily depends on the s6000 DMA engine. In fact, there is no
code sharing across any of the aforementioned devices.

    Fix a race between BlueFlame flow and stamping in post send flow.
    Example:
        SW: Build WQE 0 on the TX buffer, except the ownership bit
        SW: Set ownership for WQE 0 on the TX buffer
        SW: Ring doorbell for WQE 0
        SW: Build WQE 1 on the TX buffer, except the ownership bit
        SW: Set ownership for WQE 1 on the TX buffer
        HW: Read WQE 0 and then WQE 1, before doorbell was rung/BF was
done for WQE 1
        HW: Produce CQEs for WQE 0 and WQE 1
        SW: Process the CQEs, and stamp WQE 0 and WQE 1 accordingly
(on the TX buffer)
        SW: Copy WQE 1 from the TX buffer to the BF register - ALREADY STAMPED!
        HW: CQE error with index 0xFFFF  - the BF WQE's control
segment is STAMPED,
                so the BF index is 0xFFFF. Error: Invalid Opcode.
    As a result QP enters the error state and no traffic can be sent.

    Solution:
    When stamping - do not stamp last completed wqe.

So far as I know, the one machine linux has never been ported
to was a LISP machine. With its 36 bit words, and tagging, that
would do what you want. I had kind of hoped with 64 bits of
addressing some of those ideas would have been reused.

Indeed, I wish we could somehow automate this.

Yes, I'm sure we could construct some sparse et al. rules but
I mean at run time.  For example, having a special pointer type
that you can't dereference directly.  At the time of assignment
the pointer gets some kind of state, and pskb_may_pull() et al.
calls invalidate that "state".

It probably could just be a 2-bit counter which is incremented
every time skb->data is reallocated.

The captured 2-bit generation count could be stored in the low
bits of the pointer.

Anyways, just throwing out ideas...

Following our LPC discussion on lock-free queue algorithms
for qdisc, here is some info on the wfcqueue implementation
found in Userspace RCU. See http://urcu.so for info and
git repository.

Here is the wfcqueue ported to the Linux kernel I sent last
year as RFC:
