* [PATCH iproute2 0/2] ip/tunnel: Do not free() answer on rtnl_talk() error, correct ip6gre
From: Serhey Popovych @ 2017-12-20 7:57 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: netdev
In this series I present next set of improvements/fixes:
1) If rtnl_talk(), called with answer != NULL fails it
never returns with allocated answer: no need to
initialize answer and free() it in the caller on error.
2) Correct ip6gre print endpoint address printing with
ll_addr_n2a(): endpoints are IPv6 addresses, not hex
dump.
See individual patch description message for details.
Thanks,
Serhii

ll_addr_n2a() correctly prints tunnel endpoints for gre, ipip, sit
and ip6tnl, but not for ip6gre. Fix this by adding ARPHRD_IP6GRE to
IPv6 tunnel endpoing address conversion.

Since rtnl_talk() never returns with answer buffer allocated
on error we do not need to release it manually. After this
initializing answer with NULL before rtnl_talk() is useless.

The issue is some implementations have just the 'rate-reference' clock
going in, while others may also have 1or2 optional 'enable' clocks
(which may go to other devices as well).
The driver only needs to know which clock to read the freq from, so it
expects that clock to be named 'phy_refclk', while the 'enable' clocks
can be named anything.
Thanks

OK. Though in order to avoid breaking dtbs in the wild already, the
driver falls back on using the parent node if no mdio subnode is
found.

When phy exists, we use the value of phydev.autoneg to represent the
auto-negotiation state of hardware. Otherwise, we use the value of
mac.autoneg to represent it.
This patch fixes for getting a error value of auto-negotiation state in
hclge_get_autoneg().

Thanks for the patch. This is not the first patch that wants to do this.
Maybe you can go through the previous comments (E.g there's one in
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/244413/).
For me, I'd expect to add some XDP counters like other device did.

Isn't this a chicken and egg problem, where something must come first,
driver or infra. Unless we combine the infra patches with mlx5 driver
code and submit both in a single pull request.
Here, we assumed that the infra goes first, and we will submit the
driver soon after. We could submit the driver first instead.
Dave, would you prefer to get the driver patches that use this infra before
the infra?

* r8169 take too long to complete driver initialization
From: Chris Chiu @ 2017-12-20 8:41 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: nic_swsd, netdev, Linux Kernel, Linux Upstreaming Team
Hi,
We've hit a suspend/resume issue on a Acer desktop caused by r8169
driver. The dmseg
https://gist.github.com/mschiu77/b741849b5070281daaead8dfee312d1a
shows it's still in msleep() within a mutex lock.
After looking into the code, it's caused by the
rtl8168ep_stop_cmac() which is waiting 100 seconds for
rtl_ocp_tx_cond. The following dmesg states that the r8169 driver is
loaded.
[ 20.270526] r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded
But it takes > 100 seconds to get the following messages
[ 140.400223] r8169 0000:02:00.0 (unnamed net_device)
(uninitialized): rtl_ocp_tx_cond == 1 (loop: 2000, delay: 50).
[ 140.413294] r8169 0000:02:00.0 eth0: RTL8168ep/8111ep at
0xffffb16c80db1000, f8:0f:41:ea:74:0d, XID 10200800 IRQ 46
[ 140.413297] r8169 0000:02:00.0 eth0: jumbo features [frames: 9200
bytes, tx checksumming: ko]
So any trial to suspend the machine during this period would always
get device/resource busy message then abort. Is this rtl_ocp_tx_cond
necessary? Because the ethernet is still working and I don't see any
problem. I don't know it should be considered normal or not. Please
let me know if any more information required. Thanks
Chris

* [PATCH V3 net-next 03/17] net: hns3: change the returned tqp number by ethtool -x
From: Lipeng @ 2017-12-20 8:43 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: davem; +Cc: netdev, linux-kernel, linuxarm, salil.mehta, lipeng321
In-Reply-To: <1513759399-40915-1-git-send-email-lipeng321@huawei.com>
This patch modifies the return data of get_rxnfc, it will return
the current handle's rss_size but not the total tqp number.
because the tc_size has been change to the log2 of roundup
power of two of rss_size.

* [PATCH V3 net-next 10/17] net: hns3: cleanup mac auto-negotiation state query
From: Lipeng @ 2017-12-20 8:43 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: davem; +Cc: netdev, linux-kernel, linuxarm, salil.mehta, lipeng321
In-Reply-To: <1513759399-40915-1-git-send-email-lipeng321@huawei.com>
From: Fuyun Liang <liangfuyun1@huawei.com>
When checking whether auto-negotiation is on, driver only needs to
check the value of mac.autoneg(SW) directly, and does not need to
query it from hardware. Because this value is always synchronized
with the auto-negotiation state of hardware.
This patch removes the mac auto-negotiation state query.

* [PATCH V3 net-next 13/17] net: hns3: add support to update flow control settings after autoneg
From: Lipeng @ 2017-12-20 8:43 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: davem; +Cc: netdev, linux-kernel, linuxarm, salil.mehta, lipeng321
In-Reply-To: <1513759399-40915-1-git-send-email-lipeng321@huawei.com>
When auto-negotiation is enabled, the MAC flow control settings is
based on the flow control negotiation result. And it should be configured
after a valid link has been established. This patch adds support to update
flow control settings after auto-negotiation has completed.

* [PATCH V3 net-next 14/17] net: hns3: add Asym Pause support to phy default features
From: Lipeng @ 2017-12-20 8:43 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: davem; +Cc: netdev, linux-kernel, linuxarm, salil.mehta, lipeng321
In-Reply-To: <1513759399-40915-1-git-send-email-lipeng321@huawei.com>
From: Fuyun Liang <liangfuyun1@huawei.com>
commit c4fb2cdf575d ("net: hns3: fix a bug for phy supported feature
initialization") adds default supported features for phy, but our hardware
also supports Asym Pause. This patch adds Asym Pause support to phy
default features to prevent Asym Pause can not be advertised when the phy
negotiates flow control.
