This team mode op is only used by the load balance mode, and it only
uses it in the tx path.

* [PATCH net-next v2 4/7] selftests: net: Add tests for failover of team-aggregated ports

There are currently no kernel tests that verify the effect of setting
the enabled team driver option. In a followup patch, there will be
changes to this option, so it will be important to make sure it still
behaves as it does now.

The test verifies that tcp continues to work across two different team
devices in separate network namespaces, even when member links are
manually disabled.

There are no tests that verify enablement and disablement of team driver
ports with teamd. This should work even with changes to the enablement
option, so it is important to test.

This test sets up an active-backup network configuration across two
network namespaces, and tries to send traffic while changing which
link is the active one.

There are use cases where an aggregated port should send traffic, but
not receive traffic, and vice versa. For example, in the IEEE
802.3ad-2000 specification, there is an optional "Independent Control"
version of the mux machine. Currently there is no way create
implementations like this for the team driver.

Separate the existing "enabled" per-port option into tx and rx
specific enablement options, but do so without breaking the existing
"enabled" option. The existing "enabled" option is now defined as
(rx_enabled AND tx_enabled), so if one is independently disabled, then
the old "enabled" option will also not be enabled. However, setting
the old "enabled" option affects both the rx_enabled and tx_enabled
options. This is the first case where setting an option can affect
another option.

Note that teamd and any other software that exclusively uses "coupled"
enablement will continue to work without any changes.

Good point. I'm going with a decimal divider (1000) instead of 34.30, 
following the same approach as DPLL_PHASE_OFFSET_DIVIDER. The value
is now in millihertz (mHz) with a DPLL_PIN_MEASURED_FREQUENCY_DIVIDER
constant for userspace to extract integer and fractional parts.

Both approaches are equally valid. Some network drivers attach the PHY
at probe time (and thus can return -EPROBE_DEFER if the PHY is specified
but not present). Others attach in .ndo_open which can only fail in this
circumstance with no retry without userspace manually implementing that.

There are other advantages and disadvantages to each approach.

	Good catch. But may be it should be enough if
we just remove the sched = NULL after successful
ip_vs_bind_scheduler(), what do you think? ip_vs_unbind_scheduler()
already detects if the scheduler is installed.

No problem, it also took me a couple of minutes to understand that it
was in fact the same issue :-)

I appreciate a lot the time and effort spent by reviewers going through
patches, and reviewing AI output probably just adds on top of that. I
see that some of the issues found would have been hard for a human to spot.
On the other hand, some of the issues raised make little sense when giving
them a second look, and would probably not have been brought up by a human
reviewer. Still, they take quit some time to answer properly. One thing I
noticed in particular is that the AI does not seem to take into account
that the code actually works: suspecting broken SRAM-access or wrong
descriptor-size settings would break the driver at such a fundamental level,
it would not be able to work at all.

EN7581 or AN7583 SoCs support connecting multiple external SerDes (e.g.
Ethernet or USB SerDes) to GDM3 or GDM4 ports via a hw arbiter that
manages the traffic in a TDM manner. As a result multiple net_devices can
connect to the same GDM{3,4} port and there is a theoretical "1:n"
relation between GDM ports and net_devices.

Add missing PPE cpu port configuration for GDM2 if QoS loopback is enabled
for GDM3 or GDM4 ports. Similar to commit 'f44218cd5e6a ("net: airoha:
Reset PPE cpu port configuration in airoha_ppe_hw_init()"), this patch is
fixing an issue not visible to the user (so we do not need to backport it)
since airoha_eth driver currently supports just the internal phy available
via the MT7530 DSA switch and there are no WAN interfaces officially
supported since PCS/external phy is not merged mainline yet (it will be
posted with following patches).

Remove airoha_gdm_port dependency in airoha_dev_setup_tc_block routine
signature and rely on net_device pointer instead. Please note this patch
does not introduce any logical change and it is a preliminary patch to
support multiple net_devices connected to the GDM3 or GDM4 ports via an
external hw arbiter.

Remove airoha_gdm_port dependency in ETS tc callback signatures and rely
on net_device pointer instead. Please note this patch does not introduce
any logical change and it is a preliminary patch in order to support
multiple net_devices connected to the same GDM3 or GDM4 port via an
external hw arbiter.

EN7581 and AN7583 SoCs support connecting multiple external SerDes to GDM3
or GDM4 ports via a hw arbiter that manages the traffic in a TDM manner.
As a result multiple net_devices can connect to the same GDM{3,4} port
and there is a theoretical "1:n" relation between GDM port and
net_devices.
Introduce airoha_gdm_dev struct to collect net_device related info (e.g.
net_device and external phy pointer). Please note this is just a
preliminary patch and we are still supporting a single net_device for
each GDM port. Subsequent patches will add support for multiple net_devices
connected to the same GDM port.

Move airoha_qdma pointer from airoha_gdm_port struct to airoha_gdm_dev
one since the QDMA block used depends on the particular net_device
WAN/LAN configuration and in the current codebase net_device pointer is
associated to airoha_gdm_dev struct.
This is a preliminary patch to support multiple net_devices connected
to the same GDM{3,4} port via an external hw arbiter.

Rename airhoa_is_lan_gdm_port in airhoa_is_lan_gdm_dev. Moreover, rely
on airoha_gdm_dev pointer in airhoa_is_lan_gdm_dev() instead of
airoha_gdm_port one.
This is a preliminary patch to support multiple net_devices connected to
the same GDM{3,4} port via an external hw arbiter.

EN7581 or AN7583 SoCs support connecting multiple external SerDes (e.g.
Ethernet or USB SerDes) to GDM3 or GDM4 ports via a hw arbiter that
manages the traffic in a TDM manner. As a result multiple net_devices can
connect to the same GDM{3,4} port and there is a theoretical "1:n"
relation between GDM ports and net_devices.

Introduce support for multiple net_devices connected to the same Frame
Engine (FE) GDM port (GDM3 or GDM4) via an external hw arbiter.
Please note GDM1 or GDM2 does not support the connection with the external
arbiter.
Add get_dev_from_sport callback since EN7581 and AN7583 have different
logics for the net_device type connected to GDM3 or GDM4.

Theoretically, in the current codebase, two independent net_devices can
be connected to the same GDM port so we need to check the GDM port is not
used by any other running net_device before setting the forward
configuration to FE_PSE_PORT_DROP.

We would like to standardize our workflow to ensure it aligns with
community expectations. We've checked the maillist and netdev docs for
these details but found no clear answers. Could you please clarify which of
the following is preferred?

Option 1: Send the security report to security@ and submit the patches
directly to the subsystem mailing list without CC security@.

Option 2: Send both the report and the patches to security@ for an initial
review. After approval, re-send the patches to the subsystem mailing list. 

For Option 1, I have hread that there are bots on the public lists to help
with the review. The Option 2 feels slightly redundant and might cause
confusion. We are open to any other workflow that the community prefers.

We are wondering if it's better to send the PoC and detailed analysis
directly to netdev@ for bugs we deem to have low exploitability, which
would help minimize the burden on the security@ team. However, these bugs
are still triggerable by unprivileged users, we are concerned that posting
full PoC to a public mailing list might be inappropriate or risky.

Thank you for your advice. We will no longer CC individual maintainers on
patches sent to netdev.

Regarding security reports, however, we had previously been advised to CC
more people to avoid manual forwarding.

To be honest, we are a bit confused by the conflicting guidance we've
received. We sincerely want to establish a standardized process for our
future contributions to make everyone happy.

CC Greg here, as he knows a bit about our team's background.

Our team has developed a tool that found hundreds of non-root bugs with
PoCs. We want to ensure these are fixed properly and quickly rather than
dumping reports onto the mailing list and hoping for others to find the
time to fix. So we have organized a group of promising students. As some of
them are new to kernel development, we have been providing hands-on
mentorship to guide them through the process.

Regarding credit attribution: Yuan, Yifan, Jufei, and Xin were all
instrumental in the tool's design and implementation, so we listed them
with Reported-by tags. Xin provided the funding and led the fixing team, so
we included a Suggested-by tag for him (though this could be changed to
Reported-by as well). Then after including the patch author, this naturally
results in five tags. 


As for using a designated sender to submit these patches, it's because
using Gmail with git send-email is difficult in China and the university
email servers prohibit the use of the SMTP protocol. Therefore, we had to
apply for a separate account specifically with SMTP permissions to submit
patches.

We fully respect the maintainers' discretion in this matter. If the current
tags are still considered unacceptable, we will make the necessary internal
adjustments.
