It's interesting, and amusing in a sad way. But I bet you can make it 
work somehow. Do you want to detail the network information here? We 
can probably figure out what's wrong.

FWIW I do try to avoid DLink. But then, they're no worse than other 
companies. I've just had personal experiences with DLink. My issue was 
an incompatibility between their switch and a sis900 onboard NIC. My 
workaround was to use a Linksys switch with uplink between the DLink 
and the sis900.
