I'm seeing this as well on a GF116 [GeForce GTX 550 Ti] in single-head setup.
(The card has two connectors, but I'm only using one). I've managed to grab
screen dumps of the corruption and the corruption is present also in the screen
grab.
The corruption is typically resolved on a unfocus/focus on the window.
Like the original submitter, I'm only seeing this in certain apps.
gnome-terminal is heavily affected, emacs not at all, chromium to a very small
degree (and then just in the location bar for me), hotot quite a bit.
Happy to test any fixes you might have for this.
