I don't think the bugtracker is the right place for patch submission. Doesn't
look like it ever got checked in. You could try resending it and providing a
fuller justification -- it's a bit odd to special-case a single error return.
Documentation in e.g. the wiki may be a better way to go. (But I'm not the one
accepting/rejecting the patches :) )
