Dear all,

Here is a patch which fixes the use of gstvolume in 
gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-1.4.1.
The patch has been submitted to gstreamer1.0 master branch

Yes; this should be done in OE-Core so it fixes the problem in the
base. We shouldn't handle this in the BSP.
