When I'd looked at this I had assumed it was.. but you are right, if it was
deliberate, this should be noted in the commit message.
(I'd like to see readline removed from things like this simple due to the
license contamination aspect. Moving to editline or similar -- or no 'readline
like behavior' is fine with me as well.)
