They were unable to transfer domain ownership to the new host.  And since it 
wasn't renewed, it expired.
I think it's temporarily on 'hold' by the registrar, so the owner can still 
renew it, but that never lasts long.
The odds are good the domain is lost.  Perhaps they should register a 
different one.  I have no idea what, or I would have done it myself and 
pointed it there.
