Do you want to make the diff to the original Linux kernel in FIXADDRTOP and co unnecessary? So that it is possible to run a unmodified 'binary' kernel? I can not really speak for Fabrice, but with a software MMU there would be no need for any modifications to the Linux kernel. You would expect a slowdown between ~1.2 and ~3 (estimated values), though. -- Johan Rydberg, Free Software Developer, Sweden http://rtmk.sf.net | http://www.nongnu.org/guss/ Playing Queens of the Stone Age - regular john ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

Next step could be to let windows run. :-) Greetings, Thomas ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 4+ messages in thread

Yes, the software MMU will enable the use of unmodified Linux kernels (and other OSes), at the expense of a slower emulation (benchmarks show a slowdown of a factor 2).
