My last commits should improve stability and they allow to go further in
Windows NT/XP installing (I found the very annoying TLB bug I was
looking for some time - I should have better read the Intel specs!).
Tell me if you see improvements.
Fabrice.

wonderful!
The freeze problem seems to be solved. (I have reinstalled xp completely
and I never succeeded in the past).
Now for XP the problems seems to be the video driver.
After the copy of all the files it reboots.
I get then the splash screen and a blue screen saying that the video driver
has not been properly inizialized.
Thank you again Fabrice!
ciao

I got to install Win98 SE completely (still with the memory allocation
problem during install). But it seems that keyboard and mouse controls
stop working in VM after a few grab-ungrab cycles (3-4 it seems)
With latest CVS on Gentoo/x86.

<AOL>Me too!</AOL> By the time it gets to the end of the install, I
can't enter my product key because the keyboard appears to generate
just weird scancodes (Windows gives some popup asking me if I want to
enable an on-screen keyboard to enter my product key because my keyboard
doesn't seem to be able to generate Western letters oor something.)
Mouse still works then though.
Yeah, and an error about not being able to allocate memory during device
detection (also happens if I try to scan for new hardware after install
has completed.)

Maybe it's the possible bug, which I described in one of my last eMails
to this list.
Try to press all modifiers and release them again (Caps Lock, Shit, Alt,
Num LOCK, Compose, name it). Maybe than it works again for you.

Yes, that's the error I was talking about, the one you mentionned in one
of your previous mail.
About the IOS error you got ("While initializing device IOS: Windows
protection error. You need to restart your computer."), I have that one
if I specify a drive as hdb, but it's working if it is set as hdc.
Is there anyway to get Windows working at a higher resolution than
640*480 right now or do we have to whine until S3 emulation is complete?
;-)
I read that a dos driver is needed to make the cdrom works under
Windows, what's missing to have it recognized natively? (I guess that's
the same thing that causes the "drive in compatibility mode" message)

Yes, I see now similar problems in the XP install. I have not
investigated yet... It is either a PIC related problem or a keyboard
emulation bug.

I also see this error, but I did not try to correct it yet.
Fabrice.

For NT/2000, someone made a VESA driver for Bochs, but I don't know if
one is available for windows 9x.
The new QEMU video driver will require some work as PCI will be needed
first. I am not sure now that S3 is the best choice... Maybe I'll
implement an SiS compatible video card.
Fabrice.
