Hi,
I just finished recompiling 0.5.5 from CVS and tried the Win98SE from
the MSDN CD..
Bravo, Installation works fully this time without chaing autoexec.bat or
config.sys, and even the Network "card" is being detected...
However, no mode allows me to switch to more then 16 colours (and yes, I
have tried to install the standard Super VGA driver)..
I have tried the SciTech Display doctor (which is a univeral graphics
driver, available for free at ftp.scitechsoft.com and it detects the
graphics "chip" as Winbond chip with 1MB RAM, but still, it doesn't gove
more then 16 colors.
Anyone has any suggestion for a configuration/driver for Windows 98?
Also, how stable is SLiRP for day to day use? (browsing, email etc).. I
plan to write a howto install Win98 a guest..
Thanks,
Hetz

I have had no luck with WinMe, either. I will try this scitech driver you
mention to see if I have better luck; I doubt it.

I have never gotten farther than getting an IP; it's never worked (in WinMe
and Win2k). Has anyone had better luck? Perhaps it doesn't work well behind
a router? Let me know what configs work!

These are the steps recommended by Christophe Bothany on the Bochs mailinglist
after they added support for truecolor to the VGABIOS:
"- install win95 with the vga driver.
- download sdd 7 beta from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download382.html
- download pmhelp.vxd from
http://unununium.org/viewcvs/snap/redist/release/pmhelp.vxd
- copy pmhelp.vxd to the win95 system directory
- install sdd7"
