Hi!

I tried to use qemue 0.6.0 via vnc and ran into a problem, which seems to be related to sdl. qemu
does not create any windows, it just prints "could not initialize sdl". this does not happen, when
i start qemu via ssh (and x-fwding). i could not try this locally, because this machine has no local
display :)
unfortunately i was not able to gain any clue via google, newsgroups or libsdl.org :/ i even remember
a thread here on qemu-devel, where someone said, he could actually use qemu via vnc.
my system is a redhat9 and vnc is installed from the .rpms, which ship with rh9.
does anybody know about this problem (and has a clue) or cann tell me where to look for help?

cheers

Hello,

i downloaded and installed the mac os x pkg on my ibook(panther). I
started trying to install gentoo x86 2004.1, but install cannot begin
because of segmentation fault. Second i can't get beos working (don't
know why anymore).... Today I downloaded YoperV2 and installed
(worked!). But now when i start it, it only states "Loading YOS
......." and "BIOS Data Check successful", then resizes the screen and
crashes with "segmentation fault" again. Anyone knows a workaround, has
an updated mac os x version or a list with working os'es on mac os x
version?

Thanks

I've run Qemu via VNC without problems (TightVNC 1.3dev4, Qemu pre-0.6.0
CVS, libsdl 1.2.5). Didn't do anything special, just ran it.

Yes, I also ran Qemu on vnc with no problems.

i just tried this setup (not exact versions though) and qemu works! :) at least it does not
complain abount "could not initialize sdl". It opens its window and starts booting from "disk" :)
BUT ... :)
keyboard is screwed up ... There was a thread here on qemu-devel from "Joe Batt" who had the
same problem. According to Fabrice thats a problem with Applications using raw scancodes, which
do not get through vnc, as i understand.
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2004-04/msg00290.html
But i could not find any way around this Problem. Neither did i find any switch to vnc(server|client)
to pass raw scancodes through nor where there any switches for qemu (i386-softmmu).
I also searched google and the mailinglists for qemu and tightvnc ...

my setup is as follows:
qemu-0.6.0
tightvnc-1.3dev5_unixsrc & tightvnc-1.2.9_unixsrc
libsdl-1.2.5
installation based on redhat-9

Can someone on this liste give me a hint on what to try ? :)
