good to hear .. maybe I dig out the changes I did
to get a 2-4 times performance improvement for
x86 (qemu-fast) with qemu 0.5.5 ...

mainly improvements in the way the mainloop is
handled (worked fine for userspace, had some
issues with kernels) ...
