Even though GDB itself cannot connect over IPv6, it can be run over a
tunnel which may route to IPv6.

It should.
(I gather some OSes (possibly old versions) don't listen to IPv4 and
IPv6 on the same socket; you need two sockets. I don't know any of
the hosts QEMU works with need that.)
