Places that use patterns like

    if (bs->drv->is_filter && bs->file) {
        ... something about bs->file->bs ...
    }

should be

    BlockDriverState *filtered = bdrv_filter_bs(bs);
    if (filtered) {
        ... something about @filtered ...
    }

instead.
