What I did (for installing Solaris 9 x86, running QEMU in Linux), was at the point of changing discs, do CTRL-ALT-2, type 'eject cdrom', change the discs, then do 'change cdrom /dev/scd1' Of course, replace /dev/scd1 with the actual location of your CD-ROM drive.
