Subject: [Qemu-devel] QEMU 0.9.1 CPU halting with Windows 2000 Pro guest
Date: Wed, 09 Apr 2008 12:49:43 -0400	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <47FCF3A7.5010602@cyberbotx.com> (raw)

I've been having a recurring problem with running Windows 2000 Professional as a
guest within QEMU 0.9.1 under FreeBSD (both 6.3 and 7.0). The only programs
that run in the foreground are mIRC and SciTE. In the background, I've got
Dimension 4, DAEMON Tools, O&O Defrag, and AVG running.

While it seems to happen at random, the CPU will halt, and by that I mean that
Windows will look frozen, but QEMU keeps running, and going to the console via
CTRL+ALT+2 and doing 'info cpus' shows that CPU #0 is halted. At first, I
thought that the problem was related to sounds playing, but after shutting down
almost all sounds, the problem still occurs. Usually it happens when I'm away
from the computer, so I don't know the exact reason for the freeze.

If there is a way to do a debug of some sort while QEMU is running, that would
probably help me narrow down what is causing the problem. Any other help would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Naram Qashat
