The emulation is rough-edged in many ways, but it is almost fully functional with the original firmware image. See [1] for more details (the patch list does not yet reflect these postings). The foundation of the MusicPal emulation are the 8250 patches posted earlier and 3 changes to the pflash cfi02 support. Maybe those are already acceptable for mainline.
