Thanks for reporting, there's a filesystem corruption at Savannah,
we'll probably have to restore from backup after investigating the
cause.

We alerted the FSF sysadmins so they can work on it.

I think we're long over due to move off of Savannah.

To: savannah-announce@gnu.org

Hi,

Savannah experienced a filesystem corruption and is now halted.

The FSF sysadmins (who have physical access to the hardware) are
alerted and will investigate, and possibly restore from backup.

To be safe, do not expect the service to be restored before 24h,
although we'll do our best to do so :)

The website, CVS/SVN/Git/Hg/Bzr, and the download area are affected.
The mailing lists and webpages are not affected.

While we search for The Perfect Host, can we temporarily host the git
tree in repo.or.cz or github or one of the other open hosts?

Hmm. I seem to remember that I already said that I updated the repo.or.cz
mirror to point to Savannah.

So we have a temporary host on repo.or.cz already, and of course, you are
free to fork a personal tree.

Ciao,
Dscho

I'm not sure we can trust the clones since savannah restored from
backup. Best is to clone a maintainer's personal tree (last one to push
wins).

I'm ready to move once I get back from Holiday (next week). If Savannah
isn't up tomorrow, I'd suggest we move to repo.or.cz tomorrow.

A fork of a cloned tree is just a tree setup with a reference to the
cloned tree so you can push whatever you want to it.

I'll push my local tree later today after I talk to the savannah admins.

Well, of course you are free to mistrust me. But I can guarantee you that
I am the only one for now who can change from where repo.or.cz's qemu.git
is mirrored, and I cannot push to it anyway. The last successful mirror
run (and I get mails when it was not successful) was pretty recently.

However, if something was pushed successfully to savannah, then it was
mirrored, and then a slightly obsolete commit was restored, the next
mirror run would have _undone_ the newest commit, blindly mirroring what
is current on savannah.

'nuff said,
Dscho
