Bikeshedding, but I prefer
gluster:///path/to/unix/domain/socket:/volname/image?transport=unix
as being more similar to file://, or even
gluster:///path/to/unix/domain/socket/volname/image?transport=unix
with the last two components implied to be part of the payload, not the
path.
