Public bug reported:
Download a Fedora 19 ISO from:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora-secondary/releases/19/Fedora/ppc64/iso/
Compile qemu from git (I'm using 401c227b0a1134245ec61c6c5a9997cfc963c8e4
from today).
Run qemu-system-ppc64 like this:
ppc64-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc64 -M pseries -m 4096 -hda
/dev/fedora/f20ppc64 -cdrom /tmp/Fedora-19-ppc64-DVD.iso -netdev
user,id=usernet,net=169.254.0.0/16 -device virtio-net-pci,netdev=usernet
Guest gets to yaboot. If you hit return, qemu segfaults:
Program received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.

tcg-i386: Use new return-argument ld/st helpers
Discontinue the jump-around-jump-to-jump scheme, trading it for a single
immediate move instruction. The two extra jumps always consume 7 bytes,
whereas the immediate move is either 5 or 7 bytes depending on where the
code_gen_buffer gets located.

I just bisected the same thing down to this commit. It only breaks on
one of my x86 machines though. Namely one with
gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.7.2 20130108 [gcc-4_7-branch revision 195012]
The abort comes from stack protect code:

Yes, it requires a compiler and compile options resulting in the right
sequence of tail calls. Patch and analysis here:

Title:
qemu-system-ppc64 segfaults in helper_ldl_mmu
Status in QEMU:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Download a Fedora 19 ISO from:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora-secondary/releases/19/Fedora/ppc64/iso/
Compile qemu from git (I'm using 401c227b0a1134245ec61c6c5a9997cfc963c8e4
from today).
Run qemu-system-ppc64 like this:
ppc64-softmmu/qemu-system-ppc64 -M pseries -m 4096 -hda
/dev/fedora/f20ppc64 -cdrom /tmp/Fedora-19-ppc64-DVD.iso -netdev
user,id=usernet,net=169.254.0.0/16 -device virtio-net-
pci,netdev=usernet
Guest gets to yaboot. If you hit return, qemu segfaults:
Program received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.
