[Qemu-devel] qemu-system-alpha -nographic does not work

if i try to start qemu-system-alpha with option -nographic while 
installing debian lenny 5.0.10 for alpha
i get this output and qemu hangs - without using -nographic debian is 
fully installable

PCI:   region 1: 12000000
PCI: 00:01:0 class 0200 id 8086:100e
PCI:   region 0: 12020000
PCI:   region 1: 0000c000

PCI:   region 3: 0000c04c

simply reproducible by using only -nographic option qemu-system-alpha

it works for mips, sparc and other platforms except alpha

You didn't specify a kernel to boot, which is required for anything useful. 
This is true without -nographic too, so I don't know what you're implying about 
it "working"...

  -drive file=debian-5010-alpha-netinst.iso,if=ide,media=cdrom -append 
'root=/dev/hda3' #-serial telnet::3000,server -nographic

linux boots - i can login/run programs -> "working"

uncomment the -nographic parameters and you get the PCI: ... message 
over telnet localhost 3000

io usualy add -serial telnet::3000,server -nographic to my qemu runs on 
mips,sparc,x86,x64,ARM etc - alpha seem
to behave different, or is the linux kernel itself the problem source?

You forgot "-append console=ttyS0".  The kernel simply isn't writing to the 
serial port.

works thx, maybe i forgot it because some of my test images sparc64, 
mips64 just don't need the append and it still work with -nographic
