while IMMU/DMMU is disabled
- ignore MMU-faults in hypervisorv mode or if CPU doesn't have hypervisor
- signal TT_INSN_REAL_TRANSLATION_MISS/TT_DATA_REAL_TRANSLATION_MISS otherwise

And if the hypervisor itself has a bug and references bad memory? Or does the
hypervisor *have* to do such things in order to probe for device on startup,
and should therefore not trap.
I'm actually assuming this is the case based on the fact that you wrote this
patch in the first place. But if so, we need a comment here.

The MMU is usually switched on. The exception is the early initialization.

Yep.

With MMU switched off there is no circuit which would produce a MMU fault.
Neither under sun4v nor under sun4u. Do we really have to document it?
Btw it works the same way under sun4m just 26 lines above.

Use explicit register pointers while accessing D/I-MMU registers.
Call cpu_unassigned_access on access to missing registers.

As described in Chapter 5.7.6 of the UltraSPARC Architecture 2005,
outstanding disrupting exceptions that are destined for privileged mode can only
cause a trap when the virtual processor is in nonprivileged or privileged mode and
PSTATE.ie = 1. At all other times, they are held pending.

In OpenSPARC T1+ TWINX ASIs in store instructions are aliased
with Block Initializing Store ASIs.
"UltraSPARC T1 Supplement Draft D2.1, 14 May 2007" describes them
in the chapter "5.9 Block Initializing Store ASIs"
Integer stores of all sizes are allowed with these ASIs.

Remove the Niagara stub implementation from sun4u.c and add a machine,
compatible with Legion simulator from the OpenSPARC T1 project.
The machine uses the firmware supplied with the OpenSPARC T1 project,
http://download.oracle.com/technetwork/systems/opensparc/OpenSPARCT1_Arch.1.5.tar.bz2
in the directory S10image/, and is able to boot the supplied Solaris 10 image.
Note that for compatibility with the naming conventions for SPARC machines
the new machine name is lowercase niagara.

Ping?
Richard & Mark, can you please review the patches
04, 05, 08, 10, 11,12, 14, 15, 16, 18-23 and 25-28?
Hope I haven't missed anything from the v0 review.
It would be nice to get it into the 2.9 release.

No objections from me on the v1, although I would like to see the
official documentation updated in qemu-doc.texi perhaps with an example
command line as per the cover letter (maybe a link as to where to
download the PROM?) and the corrected case for Niagara.
I also suspect that as you've been digging in this area a lot more than
me that you're definitely going to be more of the expert here.
Can you rebase your branch onto master at github so I can give it a spin
and make sure there aren't any regressions? Other than that I'd like to
see this merged fairly quickly if Richard is happy since my connectivity
will be fairly intermittent after the next couple of weeks.
ATB,
Mark.

I am fairly happy with the patch set. The addition of MMU_PHYS_IDX in the
meantime makes the rebase non-trivial. Your assistance in getting the patch
set updated would be most appreciated.
