I have qemu-system-x86_64, version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.7) on Ubuntu server 14.04 LTS. I want to enable a guest vm (also ubuntu) to use one of the block devices from the host. I found some info here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QemuDiskHotplug and here https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/sfha/6.1/linux/productguides/html/sfhas_virtualization/ch03s02s02s05.htm I have a controller defined as virtio-scsi, and disk defined as block/lun/qemu/raw/scsi (/dev/sdc). I can boot the vm and install it but some commands fail (smartctl, hdparm) Any ideas how to properly enable passthrough similar to RDMP on vmware?
