IIUC that's for JSON only.

Right, better not leak mem.  Can you dup the str when constructing the
artifact?  I mean something like:

-   QAPI_LIST_APPEND(tail, strv[i]);
+   QAPI_LIST_APPEND(tail, g_strdup(strv[i]));
