Hi,

has anybody ever tried booting AIX on a PowerPC target? Any thoughts on
whether it would work?

Somewhere on the QEMU website I read that an AIX license has been
donated to the project for this purpose. However, as of the last
webpage update, no attempts had been made to use the AIX license under
QEMU.

Where have you seen this ?
I can see no mention of this on the qemu webpage:
http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/
or savannah project page. I'd like to have this license to help me debug
the PPC emulation... And I'd be curious to try it...

But I know some tried to run AIX and failed.
There are things to fix in the PPC BIOS to have to AIX CDROM format well
recognized, then it may run, with some luck ;-)

Oops.... while poking around the QEMU website I wondered onto the
PearPC website. http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/faq.html mentions that
an AIX license has been donated to the PearPC project, but not tested
yet. My bad, sorry.
