It is easier to read if you declare assert_migration() before do_migrate().

I would split this patch in 2:
- Extract assert_migration() and do_migrate(),
- Add 'unix' socket test
- Add 'exec' test

Can you check and add a comment that the argument used is handled 
similarly by both netcat-traditional / netcat-openbsd packages?
