Got it - let's keep nova-core's `num` for one more cycle then. This will
make for a larger conversion, but the silver lining is that this means
less rebasing for the patches currently in-flight.
I'll revisit this series for 7.5 (?), although I guess patch 2 is still
relevant as long as it keeps using nova-core's `num` crate.
