Hi Ben, It looks like there's a patch in gerrit to convert the vpp API already. I just noticed this now: https://review.gerrithub.io/c/spdk/spdk/+/417056 I'm missing some background it seems. The 18.10+ VCL doesn't look thread safe. I guess that was the reason for the changes to the vcl interface. Is this patch planned for a certain release? If you'd like to tackle the upgrade, please do submit the patches. That would be great! In general SPDK does have a number of backward compatibility requirements. However, for VPP specifically, I don't see any downside to just doing a wholesale upgrade this time. I don't think you need to maintain backward compatibility with an older VPP.
