Subject: [ 09/45] perf: Fix perf_lock_task_context() vs RCU
Date: Fri, 26 Jul 2013 13:57:29 -0700	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20130726205655.925848071@linuxfoundation.org> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <20130726205654.896050165@linuxfoundation.org>

3.0-stable review patch. If anyone has any objections, please let me know.

------------------

From: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org>

commit 058ebd0eba3aff16b144eabf4510ed9510e1416e upstream.

Jiri managed to trigger this warning:

Paul was quick to explain that due to preemptible RCU we cannot call
rcu_read_unlock() while holding scheduler (or nested) locks when part
of the read side critical section was preemptible.

Therefore solve it by making the entire RCU read side non-preemptible.

Also pull out the retry from under the non-preempt to play nice with RT.
