I would like to use u-boot for a mpc4774 and I am looking for the gnu
cross development tools to run on x86/linux.
If someone has already set them up I would appreciate a link to the
tools.

Dave,
Do you mean the MPC7447? If so I would recommend look at
http://www.kegel.com/crosstool/. Also, ELDK (http://www.denx.de/)
supports the 74xx architecture.
