Since I'm currently working with a Kirkwood platform, I would like to
"reactivate" this discussion about support for (external) tools for image
creation.
On Kirkwood this image header can include the SDRAM intialization parameters
(SDRAM controller registers settings). So this information which is currently
*not* included in the Kirkwood U-Boot ports is very important and should be
included into the U-Boot ports (from my point of view). Enabling support for
such external tools or perhaps even including this tool directly into U-Boot
seems to be the way to go for me. Then we could add this additional
information like SDRAM init parameters into the U-Boot build process again.
And it would be integrated into the mainline U-Boot git repository which is
really important from my point of view.
