Are you sure that you did use the "master" branch? Ebony in the vlab is 
programmed with this version:

U-Boot 2010.09-rc2-00082-g947f00d (Sep 22 2010 - 17:20:41)

That's the "next" branch. The patch fixing this ebony issue is a bug-fix and 
therefore I pushed it via "master" so that it can be included into the 
upcoming release.

I tested (again) with the my master branch. Ebony boots just fine into Linux 
2.6.36-rc5:
