My concern with doing a big change this way is that similar to the
xilinx platforms, there's a lot of mistakes to correct, rather than
drop. With some detective work (and, time) I think most of these get
corrected rather than dropped. For examples:

Looking at board/Marvell/*/MAINTAINERS those files are gone, but
include/configs/octeontx2_common.h include/configs/octeontx_common.h
exist and should be somewhere, probably one and one.
And so on. So, I'd be happy to take over this part of the series, if it
looks like a lot of work you'd rather not take on at the moment.
