Hi to whom it may concern,
I have MPC8272 board and I am looking for the FLASH procedures.
Currently, I am trying to FLASH this board but having problem to write
on top of the FLASH from FFF0 0000 to FFF8 0000. If you have any
information and ideas how to FLASH the chip could you please let me
know.
thanks
Jack

Would you check your BR0 setting in your initialization file of the
programmer? The flash maybe not starts from 0xfff00000.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you having trouble with writing to flash
from u-boot, or from your debugger. If the latter, what debugger are you
using? Also, what board are you using?
I've got an MPC8272ADS board and I used a BDI2000 to write the flash with
no problems. I used the following config file:
ftp://ftp.denx.de/pub/BDI2000/MPC8260ADS.cfg

Hi Alex,
I am so glad to receive your reply. I am trying to flash the
chip but I am not sure what the correct procedures are. Therefore, I was
trying U-boot, and other possible approaches. I have mpc8272 board. I
have BDI2000 as well. Could you Please show me the FLASH procedures that
tells how to use BDI2000 flash.
Thanks
Jack

Hi.
You still haven't said what mpc8272 based board you are using!
Do you already have u-boot on the board, or are you trying to get it on
the board?
If you have an 8272ADS board and you are trying to get u-boot onto it
I recommend you use the file I mentioned in the last email and read the
BDI2000 manual to find out how to use it.
Good luck
Alex

Hi Alex,
Board: MPC8272ADS
Debugger connection: BDI 2000
situation: I just found a flash chip that has U-boot on top.
GOAL: I am trying to find a method to flash the FLASH chip.
Do you know whether U-boot can be used to flash the board? OR do
you have any other method to flash.
Thanks
Jack

Yes, you can use u-boot. For example, I use the attached environment and to
reflash the board (with a new u-boot image) I just run
run load
run update
Obviously, if you screw up you could end up with a board you cannot boot.
At that point you have to learn how to use the BDI2000 :-)
