to use partitions as define in FDT define the following in your kernel config
CONFIG_MTD_PHYSMAP_OF=y
CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONS=y
CONFIG_MTD_OF_PARTS=y
enable MTD_CIF and read http://kernel.xc.net/html/linux-2.6.27/powerpc/
