Hmm.. it;s not the problem, that the merge window is to long, instead
I am to slow ... Sorry ... :-(

But if testers want to step in, the above tree should be in a good state
for testing ;-)

Hmm.. I looked in this discussion, end if Sandeep or Tom has nothing
against this __REG defines, I think it can go in mainline.
