[U-Boot] v2012.10-rc1 is now released

Hey all,

I've tagged and pushed v2012.10-rc1.  It's not quite as far along as I
was hoping, so here's my plans for early next week to get -rc2 on-track.
- An update u-boot-video pull request.
- Rob and Stephen's partition / fs related changes, once Stephen is
  happy with the pre-patch he's working on.
- My SPL series (I've got it working with just before the last
  u-boot-arm merge, needs updating again).
- Other pull requests of either fixes or things posted by the original
  merge window closure that hadn't been picked up yet.

Once the SPL changes go in, I expect at least one if not two platforms
that rebased on top of it to go into u-boot-arm.  I'm also agreedable to
taking the PowerPC SPL support.

With -rc1 out I'm now opening my next branch and I would highly
encourage custodians to open their own as well.  I've got a bit more to
say about the next branch but I'm saving that for a follow-up email.

Do you already have the latest SPL series version available at your git
repository (WIP/spl-improvements)? I'd like to rebase my powerpc work on
it so that I can send a new version soon.

At least one is the i.MX35. A second one could be the i.MX25, but both
planned for -next. Or do you plan to get one or two platform already
in this release ?

I plan to post v7 later today (just resolved the minor conflict with
am335x changes that are now in via u-boot-arm), and update github and so
forth.

I was thinking the Altera platform that was posted around the merge
window and I asked them to rebase on top of my tree.  I'll leave other
conversions to their custodians.

Great. I'll wait until I see the new version and will send the updated
powerpc/NOR SPL series then.

Looking forward :-).

Oh and you can add tested-on Altera to your SPL changes. v7 works ok
here.

I've posted and plan to pull this in Thursday, early my day, to give
folks time to rebase on top as needed.
