Your init/busybox obviously has problems. Did you try to boot the
system with a known working root filesystem? (ELDK 4.2 comes to mind...)
Then switch bit by bit to the files that you have cross-compiled. This
can be done elegantly with a subsequent mount of your "problematic"
rootfs and chroot(8).
