You mean "is a real failure"?  Or "is triggered by particular 
instructions"?  It seems profoundly bogus (as in, surely DOS or 
something reads the framebuffer).

Erm.  BIOS always says basically the same stuff, so just compile a 
screenshot into the setup code?
