It seems you can arrange for "-std-vga" or "-vga std" (depending on if
you are using traditional or upstream qemu) or nothing but nothing more
complex than that.

What is it that you are trying to do by passing such an option?

Do you know if this this option was exposed in xend? If so then how?

(as a workaround there is an device_model_args{,_pv,_hvm} trio of
options in xl which allows arbitrary option to be passed to qemu)
