So the transfer you are speaking of is.. What exactly is it that?
Are you using 'scp' to an disk in the guest? Can you describe to me how
your disk in the guest is setup? When you do the 'md5sum' do you
do it after you have dropped the cache?

Is the storage on an USB stick/disk?
