[U-Boot-Users] PPC-8xx cross compiler U-boot error

Dear All,
        I have install the ELDK3.0. And, I want to build the ppcboot.

bash$ make TQM850L_config
bash$ make all

then, I get some error like this:

{standard input}: 4998: Error: Relocation cannot be done when using -mrelocatable

Why I can't compiler the ppcboot?

PPCBoot cannot be compiled with more recent (3.x) compilers.  PPCBoot
is a dead project so please don't be surprised.

Please use a recent version of U-Boot instead.

Thank you. But I still can't compiler it.
Redhat 7.3
ELDK 3.0 ppc-2004-02-16.iso
u-boot-1.0.0
.....
make all
.....
{standard input}:  Assembler messages:
{standard input}: 19: Error: Relocation cannot be done when
using -mrelocatable
make[1]: *** [timer.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/opt/eldk/usr/src/u-boot-1.0.0/examples

Did I miss something?

Yes, you missed what I typed:

Please use a _R_E_C_E_N_T_ version of U-Boot. For example,  just  use
the U-Boot sources that come included with the ELDK.
